SOME MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

You will complete the plans and preparation of everything at least on full day in advance of a job changeover.  You will provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to Management if there are any barriers to a speedy and successful changeover.

 

To facilitate speedy changeovers and controlled maintenance, you will make plans and updates for crewing hours for each workweek including weekend maintenance and changeovers.  You will notify personnel and discuss the crewing plan and objectives with those effected and with as much notice as possible.

 

You will plan preventive maintenance intended to make all equipment reliable.

            Tactical Execution

 

You will maintain supplies and repair parts within Management approved minimum and maximum inventory levels.  You will work cooperatively with Procurements Supervisor to this end.  You will delegate non-technical research on items to Procurement Supervisor whenever possible but supports or performs technical research as needed.

 

You will take the sole, lead roll for facilitating the prompt diagnosis, repair and re-commissioning to assure continuing 24/5, and occasional 24/7, operations of all scheduled production machinery and equipment. Whenever necessary, you will direct off-shift mechanics by phone, calls in resources or you will come in personally to assist as needed to get equipment back on line.  If repair options are exhausted, you are to notify Dir. of Operations that equipment is out of service.

 

You will take sole, lead roll for providing direction to the Tech Crew personnel. These are written and verbal work instructions. This includes that you will tell expectations of tasks completion, timing and quality.  This also includes that you will follow-up on each and every assigned task with each and every person in order to assure these were completed according to expectations, timing and quality.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Quality & Manufacturing Engineer for the R&D Center is principally responsible for the team-based QE & ME tasks as assigned by the Project Manager for New and Transfer Products projects.

 

The Q&ME will lead the efforts for Molding and Manufacturing FAIR & Validation processes. The Q&ME will provide customer-plant liaison quality analysis, specifications and processes to support manufacturing operations using technical knowledge and software tools as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • As the Team Quality Engineer, be present for all process development and process sampling activities
  • Take the lead role in working with the  various Team players to perform FAIR’ s, DOE' s, Capability Studies and Process Validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) on product samples for new molds and transfers
  • Document and communicate quality process results with the Team via written forms, emails, photos and videos
  • Check, respond to, and react to MS Project PWA Account tasks at least three times per day. Task assignments are very dynamic and change daily.
  • Check, respond to, and react to MS Outlook emails at least three times per day. Timely responses to external and internal customers are essential in this role.
  • Provides Quality input and documentation into tool building and process development to ensure customer requirements are met once tooling is transferred into manufacturing. 

 
  • Act as liaison between various  Departments and the Customer to discuss and resolve issues surrounding customer documentation and specifications, customer quality requirements, and customer problems.

 

Quality Engineering:
  • Provide applicable quality engineering support to the various Departments by performing / facilitating Quality Engineering techniques such as Process Flow, Process Capability Analysis (Cp, Cpk), Pareto Analysis, FMEA, Statistical Sampling, Root Cause Analysis, GR&R and Process Validations.
  • The Q&ME is responsible for the implementation and improvement (as necessary) of statistical methods, quality cost analysis, specification and procedure development, conducting internal and supplier quality audits as necessary. He/She will conduct customer complaint investigations (root cause analysis) and will determine proper corrective/preventing actions to be taken as necessary.
  • Uses process capability studies, including identifying characteristics, specifications, and tolerances, developing sampling plans for such studies, establishing statistical control, etc. to test variability.
  • Calculates analyzes and interprets repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies, measurement correlation, capability, bias, linearity, etc. including both conventional and control chart methods.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
    • Review all customer prints for manufacturing feasibility.  Define part weight, manufacturing process (including cycle time, shot weight and any post-press operations).
    • Source vendors (tool houses) to quote new tools and any related manufacturing processes or equipment.
    • Coordinate  Tool Guidelines with Vendors, review process and die design concept.
    • Manage tool projects with vendors and conduct weekly follow up.
    • Interface with customers on manufacturing feasibility and tool design (gate location, parting lines, knock-outs, etc.).
    • Provide clear process definition and process window for new products using scientific molding principles.

    PROJECT ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

    Non-Exempt Reports to: Engineering Manager

    This position conducts Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feasibility assessments and defines mold specifications to provide cost savings and/or increased efficiency.

    The project engineer procures new molds per specifications, ensuring company Quality Standards and delivering “ Part to Print”.

    This positon also coordinates initial sample reporting (new part evaluation) and uses strong project management skills to ensures all project milestones are met.


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 
    ? Provides sales-related engineering assistance to sales operations and customers
    ? Interprets blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, mold drawings and other visual aids
    ? Successfully manages multiple projects simultaneously
    ? Communicates effectively and professionally with customers, material suppliers and tooling vendors
    ? Writes reports, business correspondence and work instructions
    ? Effectively presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and customers
    ? Develops FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Process Flow Diagrams, etc.
    ? Oversees and assists in all new mold production and modification to existing tools, ensuring timely completion
    ? Ensures complete customer satisfaction through First Article analysis and quality procedures

    ? Develops tooling designs and obtains vendor quotes

    Tooling / Project Engineer

    Purpose:

    • Support Process Engineers and Technicians during Mold Validation Process in Asia and North Carolina and acting on Process Capability results.

    • Frequent customer and vendor contact; including some travel to Asia.
    • Reviewing Part and Mold Design through consultation with customers and vendors employing DFM.

    Work Experience/Skills:

    • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and Moldflow preferred.
    • Engineering Degree preferred and at least 5 years’ experience in field with an Injection Molding company.
