PROJECT ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

Non-Exempt Reports to: Engineering Manager

This position conducts Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feasibility assessments and defines mold specifications to provide cost savings and/or increased efficiency.

The project engineer procures new molds per specifications, ensuring company Quality Standards and delivering “ Part to Print”.

This positon also coordinates initial sample reporting (new part evaluation) and uses strong project management skills to ensures all project milestones are met.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 
? Provides sales-related engineering assistance to sales operations and customers
? Interprets blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, mold drawings and other visual aids
? Successfully manages multiple projects simultaneously
? Communicates effectively and professionally with customers, material suppliers and tooling vendors
? Writes reports, business correspondence and work instructions
? Effectively presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and customers
? Develops FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Process Flow Diagrams, etc.
? Oversees and assists in all new mold production and modification to existing tools, ensuring timely completion
? Ensures complete customer satisfaction through First Article analysis and quality procedures
? Reviews customer part designs and provides suggestions to improve manufacturability
? Researches and presents material, color and manufacturing options
? Develops tooling designs and obtains vendor quotes
? Interacts with the Finance Department to ensure budgets and cost controls are in place
? Identifies manufacturing parameters, such as cycle times
? Oversees and/or performs New Product Introduction (NPI) process and production activities
? Performs capability studies
? Assists in developing and implementing manufacturing/engineering processes

? Bachelor' s degree in Engineering, or relevant work experience in lieu of degree
? Prior related experience in an injection molding manufacturing environment
? Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and propose solutions to problems
? Excellent project management skills
? Demonstrably strong leadership ability
? Plastic product DFM knowledge preferred
? Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
? Knowledge of manufacturing processes involving injection molding and value-added operations
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
? Experience working with SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
? Proven ability to work within budget and timelines
? Highly efficient, well-organized and self-motivated / self-directed
? Outstanding communication & interpersonal skills
